December Stats - What You Need to Know
Let's take a look at some numbers for December.
Well 2010 has come to a close and at one point it looked like we might end the year with an increase in transactions in Single Family Homes and Condos. Almost! The number of SFR's was up 3.25% with 4,455 sold in 2009 and 4,600 in 2010. The number of Condos sold fell by4.59% with 1,947 sold in 2009 and 1,852 in 2010. Average prices of Condos in the Gulf Shores area were up for the month of December but dropped by $38,000 for the year.
The number of new home sales was up by almost 15% from October of 2009. The Single Family resales beat last December by 10% and are up 5.5% for the year.
The number of resale condominium tranactions in Baldwin County grew by more than 65 units over last year which I think is pretty significant when you factor in the oil spill that brought everything to a screeching halt for at least 3 months.
Foreclosures in Baldwin County continue to rise. Total Foreclosures for the year are up 25%.
Gulf front condominium sales have bounced around since the oil spill happened. Take a look at these numbers.
