Transportation
The main mode of transportation is car. With such
great weather, you may prefer to bike or walk. Other means
of available transportation are local cabs, chartered limos
and chartered buses. The nearest commercial airport is
Pensacola Regional Airport which is just a short 30 mile

college, while 36% of the population has a college degree.
Today the resident population of Orange Beach is over
5,330 and growing. It’s made up of professionals, families
and retirees. About half of the residents are married with
families, seniors who live here full time make up 17% of the
population and the average age is 44.
Semitropical Climate
Orange Beach has a semitropical climate where
you’ll find some of the best weather on the coast. Year
round temperatures average 68°, with summer in the high 80’s
and an average of 65° in the winter. The wonderful

Schools
The Baldwin County School System won the 2007
Magna Award. It was one of fifteen school systems recognized
by the American School Board Journal in 2007, for
outstanding performance in classroom technology. Teachers

The school district employs highly qualified teachers
whose goal is to prepare students for great learning skills.
Alabama elementary schools led the nation in fourth grade

A Fishy History
Orange Beach was originally founded by fishermen
and boat builders and developed around a fishing community.
Fishermen found the Gulf of Mexico waters teeming with fresh
seafood and enormous fish. Today, the city has the largest
charter fishing fleet on the Gulf of Mexico with over 100 charter boats.
Lifestyle & Activities

Dolphin, Grouper, Mackerel, Tuna, Red Snapper and Wahoo. No
matter what type of angler you are, you’ll find a rewarding
fishing experience in Orange Beach.
You’re only a short 10 minute boat ride from the
Orange Beach Marina, a sport fishing and boating
paradise. You can go boating, surfing, catamaran sailing or
swim in the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Every August
you can observe the offshore power boat races along the Gulf
Coast.
Bird Watching
The Alabama coast is home to a variety of birds.
One of the most popular birding spots in the area is The
Alabama Coastal Birding Trail. The Trail, which is actually
a series of loops, provides directional and interpretive
signage to enhance the birding experience. Each loop takes
approximately a half day or more to complete. In between the
loops are places to eat, sightsee and absorb the coastal
beauty. Nature and birding enthusiasts will spy many species
of birds including majestic white egrets, cranes and

One of Orange Beach’s attractions is the
Orange Beach Art Center, formerly known as the Orange
Beach Hotel. The art center is located at 26389 Canal Road
in Waterfront Park. Area artisans display and sell their art
in the Orange Beach Art Center gallery and gift shop. There
is one-of-a-kind jewelry, paintings and photography,
pottery, mosaics…and more. Special informal concerts and
plays are held in the main gallery room with an intimate
setting of 26 people. It’s a great way to spend an afternoon
with family and friends!
The Frank Brown International Songwriters Festival is
held in Orange Beach every year in early November. The
festival provides an atmosphere to promote songwriters,
whether they have already written hit songs or they are
aspiring writers who need a forum to learn and get their

golf courses under the beautiful blue skies of the Gulf
