A Fishy History
Orange Beach was originally founded by fishermen and boat builders and developed around a fishing community. Fishermen found the Gulf of Mexico waters teeming with fresh seafood and enormous fish. Today, the city has the largest charter fishing fleet on the Gulf of Mexico with over 100 charter boats.

The Alabama coast is home to a variety of birds. One of the most popular birding spots in the area is The Alabama Coastal Birding Trail. The Trail, which is actually a series of loops, provides directional and interpretive signage to enhance the birding experience. Each loop takes approximately a half day or more to complete.
